Saiyidah Aisyah always has a journal to pen down anything related to her races. It contains things required for her mental preparations like her strength list, things to do before a race and post-race reflections.

The rower, 36, has a different journal for every year and when she went for the Paris 2024 qualifiers in April, she brought along her journal from the 2016 Rio Olympics qualification event.

Aisyah, competing at her second Games after a maiden outing in Brazil, said: “A must for me is my visor and sunglasses. I can’t imagine rowing without anything on my head because it gets really hot and sunny. And of course sunscreen, which I recently learnt is very important.”

Saiyidah Aisyah brings her iPad with her on race days to watch motivational videos or read e-books.
