July 30 South Africa

.

Race 1 (1,200m)

(5) RAFEEF’S QUEEN outran market expectations last time when improving with the benefit of an introductory outing to finish second over 1,000m. She is open to further progress and could have more to offer over this extended trip.
(2) MISS HONEY BEE has shown enough in two Eastern Cape appearances to warrant respect on her Highveld debut, though a bigger threat to the selection will likely come from well-bred newcomers (3) NAVIGATRIX and (4) PRETTY GIRL – watch the betting for clues.

Race 2 (1,200m)

(9) TENAREEF has shown promise in both outings with a third and a fourth, and sets the standard on the strength of his form. The 2YO is one of just four runners in the race with experience and that will stand him in good stead.
Newcomers (5) MOCHA MAGIC and (8) RED VIKING are well-related colts worth keeping an eye on – betting support would be noteworthy.
(1) CAPTAIN COOPER should be more effective returning to this shorter trip so could have a role to play.

Race 3 (1,200m)

(7) TWO TIGERS has maintained his form and consistency against older opposition recently up to 1,450m. He would not need to improve much over this shorter trip to open his account.
(3) BERRY LANCER is closely matched with that rival on the form of their 1,200m meeting on May 7, so he should be competitive.
Newcomers (4) DREADNOUGHT and (8) WALKINGINTHEWOODS are bred to be useful so they warrant respect, especially if the market speaks in their favour.

Race 4 (1,600m)

(5) DUKE OF LORRAINE confirmed the promise of his 1,400m debut by finishing a close-up third last time in a similar contest. A similar performance should suffice against this opposition.
(2) VIXENINTHEVINEYARD has been costly to follow but has the form and experience to trouble the 2YO principals.
(9)UNCLE BOB has shown enough to earn a cheque.
(4) CRIMSON RANGER improved to finish third in a 2YO maiden over this trip and should be competitive with further progress on the cards.

Race 5 (2,000m)

(1) FRANGIPANI won her only 2,000m appearance, then followed up last time at this level off a career-high mark. She has another five-point penalty to carry but is in good health and could improve sufficiently to complete the hat-trick of wins.
(5) AZALEAS FOR ALL is weighted to pose more of a threat, while class dropper (4) SURPRISE PARTY should also make her presence felt back in same-sex company.
Bottomweight (9) ART NOUVEAU also has the means to play a role in the outcome.

Race 6 (2,000m)

(2) PLAY WITH FIRE and (5) WISE COUNSEL are closely matched on the form of a recent 1,800m meeting and there should not be much separating them on these terms. Wise Counsel is open to any amount of improvement stretching out to this trip for the first time, though the same applies to several others including (4) CHARIKLO and (7) BE MY FATE. The lightly raced Be My Fate is better off at the weights with her stable companion, so she could represent the value in the race.

Race 7 (2,000m)

Topweight (1) ITSNOWORNEVER has references at a slightly higher level and his last start is best ignored. On the strength and consistency of his earlier form, he should fight out the finish.
(4) COVER CHARGE opened his account last time when stepped up to 1,800m with this headgear fitted. He remains open to improvement stretching out to this extended trip, so he should be competitive on handicap debut.
(3) STOP THE TRAFFIC and (6) FULL GO are hard-knockers with earning potential.

Race 8 (1,000m)

(1) TWENTYTWENTYVISION boasts solid form at a higher level off his current mark so he should be competitive, even under top weight.
The distance-suited (2) HAMMER BLOW finished second over track and trip in a stronger race last time. He should feature prominently with a similar performance, as the three-point rise for that effort is negated by his rider’s 1.5kg claim.
(5) TAKING A RISK has good course-and-distance form to her name, including back-to-back seconds off this rating. She warrants respect returning from a 65-day break.
(7) TIME WILL TELL has earning potential too.

Race 9 (1,450m)

A case can be made for several of these but none appeal more than class dropper (2) SATYAGRAHA, whose career-low mark and favourable inside gate make him an attractive betting proposition.
(5) LADY ELLIOT is consistent at this level and ideally drawn to play a leading role.
Veteran mare (6) PRETTY ANALIA is closely matched on recent form and also has the means to get involved.
(7) ELUSIVE RED is competitive in this grade off his current rating but awkwardly drawn, so he will need luck from barrier 11.
