1 Mr Brightside

Exceptional galloper who continues to race at the top level. Has six wins and three seconds at the track and distance. First-up after failing on heavy track last November. Will again race handy and take catching.

2 Jimmysstar

Has an excellent fresh record and has three wins from four races at the track and distance. Raced handy and wide at last start when narrow second in a Group 1 1,300m. Two recent trials have been excellent. Leading contender.

3 Tom Kitten

Top record at the track and distance for a Group 3 win and Group 1 second. Has not raced since seventh in Group 1 2,000m in March when raced flat. First-up record is good and he will be getting home hard. Big watch.

4 Buckaroo

Pulled up with a throat condition when at short odds but only battled here over 1,800m in March. Won a 1,000m jump-out trial at Flemington last week and has a second and a third at the track and distance. Others better.

5 Angel Capital

Solid return when 1.87L third in the Group 2 1,200m at Randwick on Aug 8 when he did not have the best of luck and worked home well from last. Excellent record over Memsie’s Caulfield 1,400m and hard to beat second-up.

6 Birdman

Has been placed once at the distance from two attempts, and has one win at Caulfield. His last start was a Group 1 victory at 2,000m in May. Is capable enough but might find the top couple a bit slick at 1,400m.

7 Cosmic Crusader

Highly rated former Western Australian galloper who has won both of his Victorian races, including last start at track and trip when began awkwardly. Is building an imposing career and can win again.

8 Sabaj

Has five wins and three seconds from his 12 starts. Has raced only once over 1,400m for a second. His fresh form is good after last racing for a solid fourth in a Group 1 over 2,000m in March. Needs to be at his best to challenge.

9 Autumn Boy

Has won from his only run at the track over 1,600m. Has good first-up form after second in a Group 1 1,600m at Randwick at last start in April. Has had two trials for this and could run into a place.

10 Beiwacht

Has had two good trials since impressive Group 1 1,400m win at Randwick in April when led and held on to score by 0.92L. Has two wins at the distance and will take catching if he handles the Caulfield track.

11 Planet Red

Lightly raced mare who has a second and a third at the course and distance. Is first-up after having hardly any luck at last start in a Group 2 2,000m in March. Fresh record is excellent but this is tough.

12 Treasurethe Moment

Won this race in 2025 when first-up, downing Mr Brightside and Buckaroo. Fresh record is excellent after last racing for third in Group 1 1,600m in April. Likes the track and distance and big show again.
