SINGAPORE - Olympic champion Joseph Schooling was given a mixed martial arts crash course by One Championship atomweight champion Angela Lee on Thursday (Nov 24) morning.

Angela, who is trained in various martial arts forms including Brazilian jiu-jitsu and taekwondo, taught Schooling several striking and grappling techniques, including front kicks, hooks, takedowns, and - at the swimmer's request - unleashed an upper cut.

Joining the session were Angela's brother Christian and Schooling's close friend from the University of Texas, Tripp Cooper.

In a short question-and-answer segment after, Schooling was asked if he would incorporate MMA in his training.

He said: "I don't know but it's really great cardio. I just did it for 20 minutes and I'm already out of breath."

Asked what would happen if he took on Angela in a street fight, he said: "She'll kick my a**, for sure."

Schooling is back in town chiefly for a Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) golf fundraiser on Tuesday (Nov 22). In all, $525,100 was raised for the SSA.

He will return to the United States on Friday.
