SINGAPORE - The Asian Netball Championships will return to Singapore in 2018, after the Republic won the bid on Friday (Aug 5) to host the biennial event.

The tournament, tentatively scheduled to be held in September 2018, serves as a qualifier for the 2019 Netball World Cup to be hosted by England.

It will be the Republic's fourth time hosting the event after previous tournaments in 1997, 2005 and 2014.

The Republic's netball team are three-time Asian champions (2005, 2012 and 2014) and they are currently participating in the ongoing Asian Championships in Bangkok, where they will take on Sri Lanka in the semi-finals on Saturday (Aug 6).
