SINGAPORE - Under Armour has partnered mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion One Championship as its official partner at its South-east Asia events for 2016, in a deal that was announced on Friday.

The partnership will take effect at the One: Ascent to Power event on May 6. It is slated to be the biggest female fight in Asian history and will feature Angela Lee in her bid to become Singapore's first MMA world champion. The Singaporean is taking on Japan's Mei Yamaguchi in the inaugural One Women's Atomweight event.

At a press event held at the Under Armour store at Bugis Junction, chief marketing officer of the American brand's South-east Asia distributor Triple, Adrian Chai, said: "We are excited to be supporting this rising sport in South-east Asia, and especially so with a partnership with One... We hope that athletes like One fighters, who truly embody Under Armour's values of never giving up to reach greatness and overcoming perceived limitations, will instill inspiration to young athletes internationally to achieve their goals."

Upcoming events that will see the Under Armour and One partnership include fights in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and one more in Singapore this year.
