Laos get first points in football after beating Brunei 2-1

AFTER losing to heavyweights Thailand on Friday, Laos beat Brunei in their second Group B match 2-1 at the Bishan Stadium on Sunday to claim their first three points at the SEA Games.

Laos dominated possession, and broke through Brunei's tight defence to score through Khaochalern Phoutthasay (10th minute).

Although Brunei pulled a goal back via a quick counter-attack through Ali Rahman Muhammad Azwan in the 65th minute, Laos regained their lead in the 73rd minute through Natphasouk Soukchinda.

Laos will return to face Vietnam at 8.30pm on Thursday, while Brunei will play Timor Leste next on Wednesday. Both games will be at Bishan Stadium.
