Gymnastics: Japan's Shirai wins men's world floor gold

GLASGOW (AFP) - Japan's Kenzo Shirai stole the show with his multiple twists and somersaults landing him the men's floor gold at the world gymnastics championships on Saturday.

He finished off with his trademark quadruple twist to score 16.233 points and take gold 0.667 ahead of Britain's Max Whitlock (15.566) with Spain's Rayderley Miguel Zapata Santana taking bronze (15.200).

Deng Shudi of China finished fourth.

It was the 19-year-old gymnast's third world title after winning team gold with Japan earlier this week and the 2013 floor title.

Shirai won floor silver in 2014 behind Russia's Denis Abliazin who was not competing in Glasgow.
