South Korean Park In Bee won the HSBC Women's Champions on Sunday after outlasting her rivals in the US$1.4 million (S$1.9 million) tournament.
The world No. 2 closed with a two-under 70 for a 15-under total 273. She finished two strokes ahead of top-ranked Lydia Ko, who signed for a matching 70.
While the victory at the Sentosa Golf Club is not enough for Park, 26, to overhaul the 17-year-old teenager Ko in the world rankings, her first title of 2015 was nevertheless a sweet one to savour for the five-time Major winner.
The third member of the blockbuster final pairing, world No. 3 Stacy Lewis, briefly threatened to mount a challenge but fell away on the back nine. The 2013 HSBC winner, bidding to be the first two-time winner of the event, recorded a 72 and finished third on 277.
Defending champion Paula Creamer shot 74 and finished tied-55th while fellow American Michelle Wie's 75 was her third over-par round at the Serapong Course. She was joint-51st in the 63-woman field.
Singapore representative Koh Sock Hwee, the only amateur in the field, had her best round of the tournament and closed with a 75 but still finished last on 307.
