SINGAPORE - Sasha Christian clinched first place in the women's individual wakeboard competition at Bedok Reservoir, scoring 59.00 points to earn her second SEA Games gold after her 2011 triumph.

The 22-year-old finished way ahead of second-placed Galuh Mutiara Maulidina of Indonesia (43.11) and third-placed Jawn Maiquel Selga of the Philippines (30.89).

Christian also achieved her aim of doing a stand-up pass (completing all her tricks without falling), although she insisted that the competition was not as easy as it seems.

"I was a little nervous going into the competition after watching my competitors," said Christian, who was the final contestant in the six-man field. "My competitors rode very well, especially Maulidina."

Going last gave her an advantage, though, as she could change her tactics. She decided on a basic trick instead of an invert coming back, as she knew she would not need it to clinch the title.
