The Premier League title race may well be completed on April 20, should results fall Liverpool’s way. The relegation trio long doomed, the English top-tier season is being kept alive by the battle for European places next season. Though more than that, England’s representatives in this season’s Uefa competitions provided a midweek of rare delights.  

Manchester United’s ludicrous 5-4 extra-time triumph over Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final, second leg was rich entertainment as was a controlled, efficient Tottenham Hotspur proving there is life in Ange Postecoglou’s team in beating Eintracht Frankfurt.
