Sweden striker Alexander Isak became the most expensive signing in British soccer history after joining Liverpool from Newcastle United for 125 million pounds ($168.86 million) on Monday.

Isak's move broke the record set by Chelsea, who paid 100 million pounds plus 15 million in performance-related add ons to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 222 million euros ($259.90 million) Paris St Germain paid Barcelona in 2017 for Brazil's Neymar is the world record.
