English football turned into a family affair on Saturday as the managers of Oldham Athletic and Leyton Orient saw their sons step up with match-winning heroics on the pitch.
In League Two, Oldham’s Michael Mellon wasted no time boosting his father’s reputation by securing the former Premier League club's first league victory of the season.
The Burnley loanee struck in the 21st minute to sink Cambridge United 1-0 away, securing three points for his dad, manager Micky, who took off the debutant in the second half.
In League One, substitute Charlie Wellens, son of Orient boss Richie, struck five minutes into stoppage time to snatch a 3-2 win at Port Vale with his first league goal for the club. REUTERS
