Following the tragedy of the deaths of Diogo Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, the July 3 announcement of their loss brought English football to a near standstill.

By July 5, football jolted back to its usual whirl of activity. Transfer news rattled on, so did the administrative matter of fines handed out by Uefa for financial breaches to Chelsea, Aston Villa and Barcelona, among others.
