SINGAPORE - Like a proud father, he reeled off names like Ryan Sanizal, Akmal Azman, Hamizan Hisham, Joel Chew, Elijah Lim and Shah Shahiran, footballers aged 20 or below who played for Tampines Rovers last season as they won the Singapore Cup and finished second in the Singapore Premier League (SPL).
"It sounds grandiose, but we want to be the Ajax of Singapore, with a constant stream of young talents coming through," said Stags chairman Desmond Ong in reference to this year's Champions League semi-finalists, who boast one of the world's best football academies.
