SINGAPORE - They have won the Premier League as "kids" and conquered European football but taking Salford City up to the professional echelons of the English Football League (EFL) represents the biggest challenge for its famous owners.

Based in Salford of Greater Manchester, the club was taken over in 2014 by Singapore billionaire Peter Lim and former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and brothers Gary and Phil Neville.
