Police have launched an investigation into allegations that Manchester City and England defender Kyle Walker indecently exposed himself in a bar.

The incident was said to have happened last Sunday, a day after Walker played in City’s 2-0 English Premier League win over Newcastle United.

The Sun newspaper published security camera footage online on Wednesday that appeared to show Walker twice pulling down his trousers in a bar in Wilmslow, 20km south of Manchester.

He did that in front of two women, with whom he then engaged in conversation.

“On Wednesday, March 8, Cheshire police were made aware of a video circulating on social media in relation to an indecent exposure which allegedly occurred in the Wilmslow area,” the force said in a statement.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are in the early stages and no arrests have been made at this time.”

Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, “a person commits indecent exposure if they intentionally expose their genitals and intend that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress”, reported The Guardian.

It is an offence that if proven, carries a maximum two-year jail term.

The Sun also said that Walker is facing the wrath of his wife, Annie Kilner, with whom he has three sons. She was not present at the scene, but she was reportedly “furious” with the player, who has been branded a “d***”, according to the newspaper.

“She’s terrified of a police investigation and if that happened she would surely feel like she had to chuck him out. At the moment that hasn’t happened,” a source told The Sun.

“She’s worried about what others will be saying and thinking about her, and is mortified for their kids.”

Premier League champions City have so far declined to comment, but the BBC said that it was believed that Walker will be contesting the allegations and that he reported for training as normal on Wednesday.

Walker has won four Premier League titles among nine major trophies since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.

It was reported that he was expected to hold talks to extend his City contract beyond June 2024 but club bosses have suspended the meeting.
