SINGAPORE - A footballer with three brains. That was how Noh Alam Shah described the waifish 15-year-old who ran rings round Young Lions head coach Fandi Ahmad and goalkeeping coach Chua Lye Heng during a training match last year.

Alam Shah, a former national striker and now Young Lions team mentor, said: "The boy was making a fool out of them with his tricks and flicks. He was skinny, but his footwork, coordination and composure made it look like he plays with three brains, and we knew then he could be special player."
