Football: Goalkeeper David de Gea in Singapore on holiday

SINGAPORE - Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was spotted in town on Wednesday and a few football fans were lucky enough to catch him for photos and autographs.

Nicholas Phua, 35, was one of them. He heard sightings of the Spanish international on Wednesday morning and waited at the Fullerton Bay Hotel for one of Europe's hottest properties.

De Gea, 24, is a transfer target of Real Madrid and his contract at Old Trafford expires in a year. The goalkeeper has been silent on his future but Phua could not resist asking him the golden question.

"When I asked if he was staying (at Manchester United), he just afforded a smile," said the fan.

De Gea, who was on holiday here, was also spotted having lunch with Singaporean billionaire and Valencia owner Peter Lim before leaving the Republic.
