SINGAPORE - Caleb John Christian Stuart from the Philippines clinched gold in the hammer throw event on Tuesday morning, en route to a new SEA Games record.
Stuart posted 65.63m, ahead of nearest competitor Thailand's Tantipong Phetchaiya - who held the previous Games record of 62.23m - with 62.12m.
Despite his feat, the Filipino has set his sights on more success. The 24-year-old said: "I want to put in the same amount of effort I did today and go for my personal best in the shot put event tomorrow.
"My goal is to reach world class level but I am not there yet."
Other events contested on Tuesday night include the blue ri-band 100m sprint for men and women.
