The long and bumpy road from Angeles City to New Clark City begins with a ride through dusty streets teeming with cars, jeepneys and honking trikes (motorised tricycles), before it gives way to bucolic countryside.
Amid the paddy fields lies the spanking new development built for the 30th SEA Games comprising a 20,000-seat athletics stadium, 2,000-capacity aquatic centre and the Athletes' Village. The sports facilities are part of the larger 9,450ha project in Capas, Tarlac, modelled on Malaysia's federal administrative capital Putrajaya and is expected to accommodate up to 1.2 million when completed.
