SINGAPORE - Singapore diving head coach Xu Jie will be leaving the national set-up to return to Canada. His decision was announced by the Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) on Wednesday.

The Canadian citizen moved to Singapore in 2011 and was instrumental in helping Singapore build a diving squad from scratch. He cited his desire to return home to be with his family as the biggest factor in his decision to leave.

Xu will continue to be part of the SSA until the middle of next month.

Singapore's diving team had a creditable performance at the SEA Games last month, finishing with three silvers and four bronzes to be the second-best performing nation, behind a world-class Malaysia.
