SINGAPORE - Samuel Leong never knew how high the standard of a cycling race could be, until he competed in one himself.

The 17-year-old attended his biggest competition at the April 23-28 Asian Road Cycling Championships in Uzbekistan, and placed ninth out of 14 competitors in the individual time trial and 23rd out of 50 cyclists in the road race.
