SINGAPORE - National canoeists Mervyn Toh and Stephenie Chen each won a bronze medal at the Asian Canoe Sprint Championships in Palembang on Saturday morning.

In the K1 200m event, Toh clocked 37.671sec, behind winner Sergii Tokarnytskyi of Kazakhstan (36.717s) and Cho Gwanghee of South Korea (36.737s).

And in the women's K1 200m sprint, Chen finished in 44.203s, behind Uzbekistan's Olga Umaralieva (43.146s) and China's Li Yue (43.456s).

Both paddlers are gold medallists at June's SEA Games with Toh winning in the same class, while Chen is the K1 500m champion.

The twin medals brought more joy to the Singapore contingent on the final day of the 16th edition of the biennial meet.

Lim Yuan Yin won a bronze medal - Singapore's first medal of the continental competition in 12 years - in the women's C1 500m event on Thursday.
