Bowling: Singapore boys bag team gold, dedicate win to Lee Kuan Yew

The Singapore boys' bowling team clinched gold in the team-of-four event at the 18th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Macau on Sunday.

The quartet of Javier Tan, Brandan Tan, Joel Tan and Muhammad Jaris Goh finished with a total of 5,289 pinfalls. South Korea took silver with 5,164 pinfalls and Malaysia clinched bronze with 5,163 pinfalls.

It was the Singapore keglers' fourth medal of the championships thus far, with two bronzes and a silver from the previous days of competition.

The team had observed a minute of silence before the start of the day's proceedings and had been eager to win the gold in honour of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who died on Monday.
