Bowling: Kuek Qi En wins boys' Masters at Asian Schools Tenpin Bowling C'ships

HONG KONG - Singapore bowler Kuek Qi En won the boys' Masters event at the 16th Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships on Friday, beating Ivan Malig of the Philippines for the title.

The 17-year-old, who was top seed going into the step-ladder finals, posted a 471-pinfall total over two games to beat Malig, who scored 368. Malig had beaten Jassem Al Muraikhi of Qatar 216-183 to make the final at the 60-lane Brunswick Synthetic Lanes.

Singapore's Charmaine Chang and Amanda Lee had taken the girls' doubles bronze earlier in the tournament.

The Republic finished third on the overall medal tally with one gold and one bronze. South Korea were tops with five golds and two bronzes while Japan had two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
