KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Malaysian badminton champion Lee Chong Wei is determined to add the All England championship title to his collection for the fifth time when the event takes place from March 14-18 in Birmingham, England.
The world No. 2 said his mission is to become the Malaysian shuttler that wins the most championships in the oldest badminton tournament .
"The All England is a very special tournament because it is a prestigious competition, as a player I can feel the All England aura is different from the other Super Series tournaments," the 35-year-old told reporters at the Malaysian Badminton Academy on Friday (Feb 23).
"Despite many questioning my desire to compete in the All England, which I have won four times, I have my own mission to make history by winning the championship the most times."
He won the All England championship in 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017, equalling Wong Peng Soon (1950, 1951, 1952, 1955) and Eddy Chong (1953, 1954, 1956, 1957).
