Race 1 (1,160m)

Competitive opener to Charity Mile Day.

(2) MAJOR ARCANA, (12) WITCH HAZEL and the returning (3) TINTIN made promising introductions and would have come on with the benefit of that experience. They should improve to be competitive.

(10) SPLITTHEEIGHTS, (6) MASTEROFTHEBAROQUE and (7) ONE OF THOSE DAYS are well-bred newcomers to take note of. The betting should provide a guide to their chances.

Race 2 (1,160m)

Many with chances in a big field.

(5) QUIET WINTER has the form and experience that will stand her in good stead.

The betting will likely provide a guide to the chances of well-bred newcomer (15) STUBBORN LOVE.

 (2) VAMANOS is in good form and can make her presence felt.

After pleasing introductions,  (13) SAKURA HANAMI and (11) IN BETWEEN should improve to get into the picture.

Race 3 (1,000m)

First feature of the day.

The highly regarded (13) AFRICAN PRIDE has hit his straps since he was fitted with headgear, winning both 3YO appearances. He remains open to improvement after an impressive last-start demolition job, so is good value to complete the hat-trick under the bottom weight.

(1) QUANTUM THEORY sets a good standard and should give a good account of himself with cheekpieces refitted.

3YO (11) CHARMING CHEETAH and (4) TAXI TO THE MOON have the means to get involved.

Race 4 (1,400m)

The unbeaten (6) STORMY DAY was not fully tuned up at her last outing, but gave weight and a beating to her rivals when winning after a break over 1,200m. She will find this extended trip more to her liking and could improve sufficiently to preserve her unblemished record.

(9) WARM RECEPTION is open to any amount of improvement, so must be kept onside.

(1) ELEGANTRIX would have tightened up after recent comeback runs and is weighted to be competitive.

(4) PRETTY PERSUASIVE should make her presence felt too over this trip.

Race 5 (1,400m)

(1) TIN PAN ALLEY sets a lofty standard after confirming his 2YO promise with a Grade 2-winning reappearance (his first start as a gelding) against older rivals. There should be more to come from him.

The hat-trick seeking (8) MIAMI MOUNTAIN will appreciate this extended trip after recent 1,200m wins.

(2) ZALATORIS is an improver capable of getting into the picture.

Debut scorer (14) TRUST should improve and can certainly pose a threat in this.

Race 6 (1,800m)

(1) WORLD OF ALICE made a winning comeback last week over a distance short of her best and would have blown away the cobwebs with that much-needed outing. She will be more effective over this distance and with improved fitness on her side.

(8) TEO TORRIATTE has made marked improvement fitted with cheekpieces and another competitive showing is expected, after her career-best last-start victory over (6) SOLDIER’S EYE (1kg better off). The latter should have a role to play on these terms and with blinkers fitted.

(11) WOMAN’S WORLD, (12) POPLAR PARK and (9) TWOSTEP QUEEN are others with earning potential.

Race 7 (1,600m)

Top quality field for the main event.

(1) ATTICUS FINCH was a fast-finishing second in a 1,450m Grade 2 in October when tried in blinkers (retained) for the first time. Any improvement over this trip from gate 1 will make him very hard to beat.

(4) CONFEDERATE bounced back to his best with a start-to-finish comeback win, but will not have things his own way from gate 14.

(10) BUSSTOPINHOUNSLOW and (11) CHOISAANADA are closely matched on that form and weighted to turn the tables on 2kg better terms, but both are drawn wide.

Race 8 (2,400m)

(6) MO MENT continues to defy the handicapper but this demands another career-best effort to complete the hat-trick.

Before Mo Ment’s recent back-to-back wins, he was beaten by re-opposing (10) ENFLAME on similar weight terms. The lightly raced latter is a maturing stayer with low mileage, so it should pay to follow his progress, especially over this extended trip after a pleasing 1,800m comeback.

Course-and-distance specialist (3) BREEZE OVER and veteran (2) NEBRAAS are experienced performers with solid credentials at this level.

Race 9 (1,160m)

(6) PERFECT MIRACLE was thrown into the deep end after a winning course-and-distance debut, but she handled it with aplomb. She makes her handicap debut off an unchanged mark, so is hard to oppose.

Stablemate (5) BLIZZARD SNOW benefits from her rider’s 4kg claim and could emerge the biggest threat.

(4) CALANTHA has the form and experience to make her presence felt too, if ready to roll after a lengthy absence.

(3) KINDRED HEART, after an encouraging reappearance, (2) POBLANO and (8) LET’S GO LOLA complete the shortlist.

Race 10 (1,160m)

It could pay to side with (3) TUSCAN ROMANCE, who has thrived since relocating to the Highveld. Solid claims.

(4) UNITED OFFER outran market expectations when she recorded a narrow victory on debut and that experience would have done her good.

(2) LIMERICK LACE and improving last-start winner (7) LOST FOR WORDS warrant some respect, as do 3YO fillies (1) FULLY COMMITTED, and (9) CAPTAIN SELVIE.
