SINGAPORE - The fastest Singaporean over 100 metres in the last 20 years got his athletics journey off the mark with a decidedly unhurried jog over 4,000m.

Marc Brian Louis was eight when his father, lifeguard Gilbert Louis, brought him on a long run at Sembawang Park over 10 years ago.
