The long shot Asia Spirit thundered home in the driving rain to become the first horse to win without spectators at the Singapore Racecourse at Kranji last night.
Ridden by the 1kg-claiming jockey Tengku Rehaizat, the Desmond Koh-trained and Ninety Six Stable-owned seven-year-old gelding sat a handy third with a ground-saving run along the rails. He overtook the tiring leader Pioner Seven in the final 250m to win the first of nine Polytrack races on the card.
