SINGAPORE - A woman was injured after an Angsana tree branch fell on her in Redhill Close on the morning of Jan 26.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for assistance at about 9.25am.

The woman was taken to Singapore General Hospital.

“NParks is in touch with (the woman’s) family and our priority now is to accord assistance to them,” National Parks Board (NParks) group director Oh Cheow Sheng said on Jan 27.

The fallen tree branch has been cleared and NParks staff members are conducting checks on surrounding trees as a precautionary measure, he added.

According to Chinese-language news outlet Shin Min Daily News, the branch reportedly had a diameter of about 16cm.

There were blood-stained paper towels, a damaged shopping trolley and a plastic bag filled with tomatoes and carrots at the scene, reported Shin Min. Chinese New Year decorations were also spotted among the debris.
