SINGAPORE – A woman was found lying motionless at the foot of a Toa Payoh HDB block on Sept 25, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

She is believed to have been a domestic worker who fell while cleaning windows.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police said they received a call for assistance at Toa Payoh Lorong 7 Block 9 at 8am that day.

A 39-year-old woman was found lying motionless at the foot of that block, the police said. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said its paramedic pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The police said that based on preliminary investigations, they do not suspect foul play.

The maid’s employer told Chinese-language news outlet Shin Min Daily News that the domestic worker had likely fallen while cleaning windows.

Shin Min Daily News’ reporters at the scene said they saw several police vehicles and a blue police tent erected at the scene, with significant bloodstains visible on the ground.

The maid had begun employment only on Sept 20, her employer told Shin Min Daily News.

The employer added that she and her family were asleep when the incident happened.

The employer is a 50-year-old woman working in the human resources sector, according to Shin Min Daily News.

ST has contacted the Ministry of Manpower for more information.

Police investigations are ongoing.
