A taxi driver was arrested for careless driving causing death following the accident in Lorong 1 Geylang on June 10.

SINGAPORE – A female pedestrian, 85, died after an accident involving a Comfort taxi near Kallang MRT station on June 10.

The 68-year-old male taxi driver was arrested for careless driving causing death following the accident, said the police on June 11.

The police were alerted at 10.35am on June 10 to the accident in Lorong 1 Geylang towards Upper Boon Keng Road.

The woman was unconscious when the Singapore Civil Defence Force took her to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where she died.

In a media reply, a ComfortDelGro spokesperson said: “We are profoundly saddened by this accident and our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time.”

The transport operator said it is “fully cooperating with the police in their ongoing investigations”, and will provide “all necessary assistance”.

Police investigations are ongoing.
