SINGAPORE - The Jubilee weekend may have gotten off to a wet start, but nothing could dampen the spirits of the thousands of people who gathered at Marina Barrage to picnic and watch the Black Knights perform.

The venue was playing host to a picnic organised by non-profit organisation Families For Life, although many people turned up just to watch the aerial acrobats show off their moves.

Crowds lined the barrage and the surrounding area, even though the Black Knights performance was truncated due to the rain.

Earlier on Friday morning, some 9,000 people also took part in the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk around the Marina Bay area.

Nearly $2m was raised at the walk, which was attended by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, and Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin.
