Visitors to Hong Lim Park yesterday were treated to gravity-defying manoeuvres from participants at the International Lion Dance Competition. The participating teams also impressed the audience with their showmanship and athleticism, drawing cheers from the crowd. This year, 13 troupes from eight countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and China, participated in the competition and displayed their intense rivalry. This is the first time the international competition, which takes place over two days, is being held at Hong Lim Park. The lion dance competition is part of the Chinese New Year activities organised by the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens Consultative Committee and was attended by Jalan Besar GRC MP Lily Neo. The event continues today.
