BEIJING - Cities in the Sichuan region of China are now packed with schools and housing blocks, a far cry from a decade ago when one of the deadliest earthquakes struck the area.
Recalling the scene in the city of Shifang, in north-east Sichuan, in 2008, Senior Warrant Officer Ahmad Faizal said the magnitude 7.9 earthquake had destroyed most of the buildings - including two schools - and left the streets covered in rubble and dust.
