SINGAPORE - Travellers should expect to take longer to clear immigration at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the upcoming Good Friday weekend.

In a statement on April 14, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said very heavy traffic is expected at both land checkpoints between April 17 and April 21.

This is traditionally the busiest long weekend of the year for both checkpoints, said ICA.

More than 1.8 million travellers crossed the land checkpoints during the Hari Raya Puasa long weekend between March 28 and March 31, with a peak of over 538,000 travellers crossing on the first day.

Those who travelled by car during peak periods had to wait up to three hours for immigration clearance, said ICA.

People who need to travel during the Good Friday weekend can consider taking the cross-border bus service to avoid congestion, it added.

Almost 2.3 million travellers crossed the land checkpoints

during the Good Friday long weekend in 2024, with more than 455,000 crossings daily.

“We seek travellers’ understanding to cooperate with ICA officers, observe traffic rules and maintain lane discipline,” said the authority.

Motorists are advised to check the traffic situation before crossing the checkpoints. The authorities also encourage travellers to use QR codes for faster and more convenient immigration clearance.
