SINGAPORE – A 38-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted in Jalan Besar and tied up by two men before being robbed of two mobile phones, a wallet, a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings and $2,000 in cash.

She sustained minor injuries, while the duo fled and were later arrested, the police said in an April 27 statement.

The police were alerted to the incident on April 26 at 9pm.

“Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within four hours of the report,” the police said.

“All the items belonging to the victim were recovered.”

The men are expected to be charged in court on April 28 with robbery with hurt.

If found guilty, they will face a jail term of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
