Two e-books on the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew free for download

SINGAPORE - Two e-books about the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's founding Prime Minister, are now available free for download on The Straits Times Star E-books app.

The PDFs of The Straits Times print coverage of Mr Lee's passing are now also available on ST's website for free download.

Mr Lee died aged 91 at 3.18am on March 23. In the week that followed, Singaporeans paid their respects in an unprecedented outpouring of grief. His state funeral was on March 29.

The e-book - Lee Kuan Yew: The Final Journey - was released on April 4.

It contains more than 100 images of the seven days of national mourning, as well as video and audio clips. Some have never been published before.

Another e-book - Lee Kuan Yew: The Man And His Ideas - was published on March 28. It contains excerpts from the original 1997 book, never-before-seen photos and never-before-heard audio clips of interviews with Mr Lee.

The 1997 book was the first book about Mr Lee and the ideas that shaped modern Singapore. It was written by ST journalists Warren Fernandez, Han Fook Kwang, and Sumiko Tan.

The e-books are available on Apple's iPad (but not iPhone), and Android tablets and smartphones from The Straits Times Star E-books app. To get them:

- Go to the Apple App store on your iPad, or Google Play Store on your Android tablet or smartphone.

- Type "The Straits Times Star" to search for The Straits Times Star E-books app.

- Download it onto your iPad or Android device.

- Go to "I'm just browsing"

- You will find Lee Kuan Yew: The Final Journey and Lee Kuan Yew: The Man And His Ideas inside the app.

The app is designed to work on iPad devices running iOS 6 and above. The app is best viewed on tablets.

Due to its size, it is best downloaded over Wi-Fi.
