SINGAPORE - Two cleaners have been commended for their honesty after returning $45,000 worth of jewellery they found.
Mr Melvin Yong, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar, wrote on his Facebook last Friday (June 24) that he had presented letters of commendation to two Tanjong Pagar Town Council cleaners - Mr Nurul Islam and Mr Sentu.
He wrote: "The cleaners had found the jewellery left in a TV carton box which was discarded at a lift lobby in Queenstown estate."
The owner recovered his lost items the same day that he reported them missing, and was "delighted", Mr Yong wrote.
