Two charged with murder after victim dies in hospital

Two men who were originally charged with attacking a man have had their offences upgraded to murder after the victim died in hospital.

Muhammad Daniel Abdul Jalil and Radin Abdullah Syaafil Radin Badruddin, both 22, were yesterday remanded for investigations. Daniel was initially on bail. Their occupations are not known.

They were charged last month with causing grievous hurt, but are now accused of causing the death of 34-year-old Navarro Dorian Regis.

According to court documents, the incident happened outside Orchard Towers at about 6am on April 1 this year.

Daniel had punched Mr Regis in the face until he lost consciousness and sustained traumatic brain injuries. Mr Regis died last Monday.

Daniel also faces another charge of causing grievous hurt to Mr Goudal Pierre-Eric Jules by punching him and breaking his nose, at about the same time and place as the incident with Mr Regis. More details of the two victims are not known.

If convicted of murder, Daniel and Radin face the death penalty, or life imprisonment and caning.

Their case will be mentioned in court next Tuesday. Both men will be represented by lawyers.
