Woman hurt in accident near Khatib MRT dies from her injuries

SINGAPORE - A woman who was seriously injured in an accident near Khatib MRT station on Sunday (July 19) has died.

Madam Ng Soo Kiew, 60, was riding pillion on a motorcycle with her husband when they crashed into the back of a car.

A minivan then hit both riders. Her husband, Mr Wong Sang Hin, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Madam Ng was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

She had two operations but remained unconscious, and was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Shin Min Daily News reported.

She died on Wednesday afternoon, her son said.

Mr Wong's funeral was scheduled for Thursday, but their family plans to "send them off together" on Sunday (July 26), he told Shin Min.

A 21-year-old male minibus driver has been arrested for causing death by negligence, police said.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The accident at around 2.30pm caused a serious traffic jam on Yishun Avenue 2.
