Launch of Sentosa Line
Visitors to Sentosa can now get to parts of it by cable car.
The new Sentosa Line links the Sentosa station to attractions such as the Merlion, luge and Siloso Beach, and will be officially launched today. The line has been about two years in the making and extends the Mount Faber Line that now connects Faber Peak to HarbourFront and Sentosa.

Q2 growth estimates out today
The Ministry of Trade and Industry will release its advance estimates of Singapore's second- quarter economic growth today.
Economists expect the figures, which will take into account data from the first two months of the quarter, to be tepid, owing to struggling manufacturing, flagging world trade and sluggish tourist arrivals.

Spacecraft makes Pluto approach
Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft is today poised to make its closest approach to Pluto, offering the first close look at the distant dwarf planet. At around 7.50pm Singapore time, the piano-sized spacecraft, which has been travelling towards Pluto for more than nine years, should get as close as 12,500 km. It is expected to produce never-before-seen clear, colour images to be radioed back to Earth.
