SINGAPORE - Ride-matching app Uber, which allows commuters to hire privately chauffeured saloon cars and limousines, will be piloting a new supercar service here.
Users can choose between a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, priced with a base fare of $200 along with a $7 a minute charge, or a Maserati GranTurismo Coupe, with a base fare of $165 and a similar per minute charge.
The cars and professional drivers will be supplied by Dream Drive, a supercar rental service.
The trial will run from March 23 until May 20, 2015, and the cars are available for hire from 10am to 9pm daily, said Uber on Thursday.
Uber's supercar-tier pricing is the highest ever for a ride-booking app in Singapore, topping its own UberExec limousine service and GrabCar's private car hire.
An UberExec ride has a base fare of $7, with a $1.95 charge per kilometre, while GrabCar charges between $18 to $65, depending on the trip distance and car type.
Uber, a US-based company which started operations here in 2013, has a presence in about 250 cities.
