SMRT to cut pay, bonus as coronavirus crisis continues

In a note sent out to employees on Feb 26, 2020, SMRT said it is implementing a salary reduction of up to 5 per cent and a 0.5-month reduction in bonus for its management staff this year.

SINGAPORE - Just two days after state investment firm Temasek announced a pay freeze on the back of the coronavirus outbreak, transport operator SMRT Corp has followed with a similar notice to staff.
In a note sent out to employees on Wednesday (Feb 26) afternoon, SMRT, fully owned by Temasek, said: "In light of the challenging situation arising from the Covid-19 outbreak, SMRT is implementing a salary reduction of up to 5 per cent and a 0.5-month reduction in bonus for its management staff this year.
