Close to 20 strangers have knocked on Mr Leong Loon Wah's door with offers of help since late last month when his family's plight was highlighted in The Straits Times.

Most offered cash donations while others volunteered to pay his electricity and water bills, sponsor his youngest son's polytechnic education and provide free therapy services for his wife.
