School bus operators in a jam amid driver shortage and rising costs

SINGAPORE – Pupils from at least six primary schools will start the term on Monday with new bus drivers – a relief for them and their parents, as the previous bus operators had cancelled their service contracts just before the mid-year holidays began in late May.

Four of the six schools were served by a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro, one of the largest private bus operators in Singapore. The other two were served by another operator, Longlim.
