SINGAPORE – The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will have a new chief executive from June 16, when Mr Ang Wee Keong takes over from Mr Teo Eng Dih.
Mr Teo, 47, will step down from his position and take on the role of deputy secretary (special duties) at the Ministry of Transport (MOT).
Mr Ang, 44, will continue as assistant chief executive (international) of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) while concurrently serving as chief executive-designate from May 1 to June 15.
He will relinquish his IMDA appointment and be appointed chief executive of MPA on June 16, 2025, when Mr Teo officially steps down as a board member.
At the IMDA’s International Group, Mr Ang heads international strategy, engagement and collaboration, overseeing multilateral negotiations and bilateral partnerships in the digital domain.
He oversaw the growth of Singapore’s network of digital economy partnerships, and expanded regional collaboration through platforms like the Asean Digital Ministers’ Meeting, Forum of Small States and Asia Tech x Singapore.
He also oversaw the formulation of forward-thinking policies and regulations to advance the growth of Singapore’s digital economy, including the upcoming Digital Infrastructure Act.
In announcing the appointment changes on April 29, MOT said Mr Teo made significant contributions to the MPA, including helping to grow Singapore’s International Maritime Centre and the PIER71 start-up ecosystem.
During his tenure, the Port of Singapore also attained new records in vessel arrivals, container throughput, bunker sales and registrations under the Singapore Registry of Ships.
