SINGAPORE - A new bus service will start serving residents in Yishun on Oct 15, under a programme to expand the public bus fleet.
Service 807, a loop service, will operate everyday, including public holidays, from 5.30am to 11.30pm, said transport operator SMRT and the Land Transport Authority on Thursday (Sept 14).
The service - which will operate out of Yishun Bus Interchange - will ply Yishun Ring Road, Khatib MRT Station, Yishun Avenue 5 and Yishun Street 71.
Service 807 is expected to improve connectivity to the transport nodes in Yishun and Khatib, as well as amenities such as North Point Shopping Mall, Junction Nine, Yishun Hawker Centre, Yishun Junior College and Chong Pang Market.
The new service is the 77th under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme. The billion-dollar bus programme was launched in 2012 in a bid to reduce waiting times and congestion, with a target to introduce 1,000 new buses and 80 new services by 2017.
A shorter version of Service 807, Service 807A, will also ply from Yishun Bus Interchange to Khatib MRT Station during the morning peak period.
Meanwhile, Service 860, the first bus service introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme, will be extended to Yio Chu Kang from Oct 15.
The service currently plies within Yishun, but will be extended to Yio Chu Kang through Springleaf and Tagore Industrial Estate. This is expected to improve local and inter-town connectivity between Ang Mo Kio and Yishun.
This extended service will operate daily, including public holidays, from 5.30am to 11.30pm from Yishun Bus Interchange, and from 5.30am to 11.35pm from Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange.
