SINGAPORE - Bicycle-sharing company Mobike has upgraded its bicycles with new changes tailored for Singapore road conditions.

The changes include three shift gears that allow users to change gear when riding on slopes, making it easier to pedal. Battery operated headlights are also replaced with solar-powered headlights in the new bicycles.

In addition, the new bikes have adjustable seats that take into account users of different heights. Overall, they aim to provide an easier and more comfortable riding experience.

The new bicycles were revealed by Mobike, which launched here in March, on Thursday (July 6).

To celebrate 100 days of Mobike sharing bicycles in Singapore, Mobike also announced an exclusive partnership with Mastercard.

The partnership aims to enhance the payment system for riders using the Mobike app. It integrates Masterpass, Mastercard's global digital payment solution, in the Mobike app so users can make fast and secure in-app payments.

Users of Masterpass will be able to sync their Mobike accounts with Masterpass for easier, secure payment.

To celebrate Mobike's 100 days of bicycle sharing, the company also said that its users will get free rides till July 31.

Said Mr Florian Bohnert, Mobike's head of international expansion: "Our value lies in bringing our smart, sustainable and environmentally-friendly mobility solution to urban residents."
